Carnivore Questions LIVE & Giveaways!
In a Nutshell
A panel of carnivore advocates hosted a live Q&A, promoting upcoming events and sharing practical advice on managing insulin resistance, therapeutic ketosis, and stress. Key takeaways include using smaller, more frequent meals for those with stubborn insulin resistance, tracking ketones for epilepsy or cancer protocols with a target GKI under 2, and practicing daily stress-reduction techniques like the five-sense grounding method. The session also covered tapering off exogenous insulin under medical supervision, explained why vegetables can damage the liver similarly to alcohol, and stressed that sugar cravings typically resolve within three weeks on strict carnivore if artificial sweeteners are avoided.

Dr. Anna emphasizes managing stress daily through conscious practice. Stress affects brain function, eating behavior, and energy levels through the HPA axis and sympathetic adrenaline response.
Stress Management Techniques
- Pause for one minute when feeling discomfort to identify what's happening
- Use parasympathetic nervous system techniques like breathing to ground yourself
- Practice gratitude, faith, meditation, and journaling
- Find personalized meditation methods that work with individual brain patterns
Five Sense Grounding Technique
- Five things you see
- Four things you are listening to
- Three things you are feeling in your body
- Two things you are smelling
- One thing you are tasting
Journaling Benefits
Particularly helpful for processing grief or major problems. The key is selecting simple, repeatable strategies that resonate personally.
Adam addresses whether cold, frozen, or melted butter affects digestion. For some people, rendered fat in melted form can be too much fat at once, potentially causing digestive issues like looser stools or diarrhea. Cold butter is generally easier to handle. For those with dairy issues, tallow is recommended as an alternative.
Carnecon Invitation
Emphasizes the event is recorded for later viewing. Discount code "gratitude 50" provides 50% off.
Menus Retreat Workshop
Dr. Anna will lead a workshop on "The Four Agreements" book, focusing on pausing and reframing perspectives to avoid self-sabotage.
Movement Building
Discusses going against current medical, food, and pharmaceutical systems. Emphasizes the importance of building lasting change for children and grandchildren. Invites participation in the fundraising dinner in Florida to support the movement.
The VIP dinner helps fund the series following the documentary. Most funding for the film itself is complete, but the series requires additional support. Pre-order purchases contribute to series funding.
Abbott's Duo Libre
FDA authorized and expected to be available in the US soon. Monitors both glucose and ketones continuously. Currently available in other countries.
Benefits for Specific Conditions
Particularly valuable for those tracking GKI (glucose ketone index) for psychiatric conditions, neurologic conditions, or cancer protocols like Dr. Seyfried's protocol. Eliminates need for frequent finger pricking.
Dr. Anna notes that not everyone quickly resolves insulin resistance. Some people may take years to gain control. For insulin resistant individuals, larger protein amounts may spike glucose and insulin. Smaller, more frequent meals with reduced protein per meal may be beneficial. Example: eating one can of sardines (18g protein) five times daily versus three cans at once.
After October 23rd, rental will be $6.99 for 48 hours and purchase will be $9.99. Eventually the documentary will be available on YouTube, Tubi, and Pluto for free after the initial release phase.
Barb emphasizes ketone tracking importance for those using ketogenic diets for cancer, autoimmune conditions, or mental health issues requiring high ketosis levels. Tracking is also valuable when progress stalls to identify factors like meal timing, stress, cortisol, or exercise effects.
Tracking Considerations
Some people find tracking triggering or anxiety-inducing, which increases stress and cortisol. The balance between data collection and mental wellbeing is important. Ashley notes the beauty of carnivore's simplicity - eating beef, butter, bacon, and eggs until full without needing to track initially.
Medically supervised retreat in Tampa, Florida with limited spots remaining. Website is ment.com. Dr. Anna will be present for 10 days. Ashley will be cooking.
The team has workshops and classes planned, including Dr. Jen helping participants with fasting. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the sun, good food, good company, and decrease stress. Dr. Brian Lansquez shared a client story where someone went on a 12-day vacation similar to the retreat length and lost 9 pounds without strictly following the plan. The weight loss occurred because there was no stress, there was joy, they were playing games, enjoying the sun, and had disconnected from work. The emphasis is on reversing disease through stress relief rather than just weight loss, with connection, friendship, and partnership serving as stress relief without being in a pill or a hug.
Dr. Nelson mentioned that Dr. Bos has single-handedly caused a worldwide sardine shortage. Sardines are now about a dollar a fish. Dr. Bos discussed sardines on his Brazilian page, and followers asked where to find them. He suggested trying Amazon.
The first giveaway of the night was a Healing Humanity shirt in blue. The winner was Linda Flanigan 4692. To claim the prize, winners go to healing humanity, fill out the form, and Ashley sends the shirt. The next giveaway is a 30-day free membership to healing humanity.life.
The community does 12 Zoom calls per week. Yesterday featured Dr. Philip Ovedia. Dr. Anna has been on, and Barb and Lynn are regular participants. Wednesdays feature doctors, Tuesdays are Q&As, and there's an inspire together session. Next week, Dr. Anna is the expert on Wednesday.
A viewer asked how to add purchased shows to data for sharing the Healing Humanity documentary. Adam explained there is a pay it forward button, but with the limitation that you can only purchase one pay it forward at a time. After purchasing one, you get a code to send to someone, then must purchase again for additional people. This is a system limitation they're working to improve. The platform is an indie film platform without the billions in funding of Netflix or Amazon, so users are asked to bear with limitations. Purchasing and views are tracked, and pay it forward purchases give lifetime access that can be watched multiple times.
Carnival Brothers Ashley expressed gratitude for Dr. Anna joining and noted how much gratitude can be found when healing. Joe expressed gratitude for life, love, and everyone involved with healing humanity. Diane expressed being blessed beyond measure and grateful for the abundance of wonderful nourishing food. Bill Cook mentioned omega-3s, calcium, and amino acids. Mark expressed gratitude for being a carnivore and feeling amazing.
Joe White asked about tapering off exogenous insulin Tresiba. Lynn explained that people are able to get off exogenous insulin, but it's important to work with a doctor and monitor blood sugar regularly. The bigger risk with lowering carbs is becoming hypoglycemic, which can happen fairly quickly. Metformin is different, but with injected insulin, extreme care and monitoring are required. Users should inform their doctor they're doing a whole foods elimination diet and expect lowered blood sugar. Doctors can provide parameters for decreasing insulin. Type 1 diabetics often lower insulin requirements but may not get completely off it, while type 2 diabetics are frequently able to get off all medications.
Dr. Anna added that daily glucose monitoring is essential, and continuous glucose monitoring would be ideal. Users should write down measurements to show doctors as proof of better blood sugar levels. If feeling weird, tachycardia, dizzy, sweating, cold, or clammy, check glucose immediately because low blood sugar can be life-threatening. Monitor and show data to doctors, and discontinue with medical supervision.
Lynn emphasized knowing personal symptoms of hypoglycemia, as not everyone experiences it the same way. Some people can be in the 30s and not feel it. Don't wait for symptoms if blood sugar is getting below 70, communicate with your doctor.
Ashley was asked if dogs eating carnivore need supplements added to their diets. She explained that Carnivore Claire is carnivore, and her lab work has remained normal without supplementation. Dogs in the wild would eat nose to tail. However, dogs do not have the digestive enzymes to digest fat that humans have. Inuits would feed their animals lean muscle meat and not fat. Dogs have different pancreatic enzymes, so lean meat is better for them than fatty meat.
Barb was asked about whey protein bars. She explained that if it's the only option available, it won't significantly harm you occasionally, but hydrolyzed protein isn't the best way to get protein. It's better to get protein from meat and animal products. Protein bars are convenient but can easily creep into the diet long-term, leading to issues and lack of satisfaction. Lynn added that protein bars are ultraprocessed and not in a form the body is designed to digest, though they may be better than granola bars.
Dr. Anna was asked about alkaline phosphatase elevated to 131. She explained that alkaline phosphatase indicates obstruction in the hepatic biliary system. It's not ALT/AST which are liver function tests, but related to the liver and biliary tree system. She recommended checking with a doctor for an ultrasound of the upper abdomen to examine the gallbladder, biliary tree, liver, and pancreas. She suggested repeating the test to rule out lab errors, and ordering GGT (gamma glutamyl transferase) as both markers help check for obstruction in the liver biliary system.
Lynn added that 131 could actually be within normal range depending on the lab, though it's on the high end. If it's an acute change from previous levels like 50, it would be concerning. In hepatology, concern arises with a 10 times increase above normal upper range indicating acute problems. Compare to previous results and determine if symptomatic, such as feelings of pressure or fullness in the upper left quadrant of the abdomen. Mild nausea might also be a symptom. Dehydration can affect some lab values, though not typically alkaline phosphatase.
Donna expressed gratitude for indoor plumbing and not having to walk a mile with a 5-gallon bucket to get water, feeling blessed living in the USA.
Thomas asked if anyone is going to Hack Your Health. Dr. Anna confirmed she is going with BC the Girl Gone Carnivore and Dr. Jen Fleming for a workshop on when stress gets stuck and how to overcome it to build a healthy life.
Adam confirmed that if people can't make the Menus retreat, they can still attend the dinner.
Lynn was asked if epileptics should check ketones. She explained that the original knowledge about the ketogenic diet was for treating seizures, and ketones are extremely important for epilepsy control. Ketones need to be higher than for non-epileptic therapeutic purposes. Fat percentage tends to need to be higher. Dr. Anna mentioned aiming for GKI (glucose ketone index) under 2, with ketones at 2.5 to 4 or greater, and glucose less than 80. To achieve therapeutic ketosis, split meals with less protein and higher fat in proportions around 1.5 to 2 fat to one protein. Smaller meals every two or three hours help achieve the numbers. The US requires converting glucose from grams per deciliter to millimoles per liter before dividing by ketones.
Dave Mack's channel keeps viewers going because nobody around them is carnivore. Dave has over 2,000 interviews and 2,000 stories of healing.
Mark Johnson shared that he was type 2 diabetic and got off metformin and insulin.
A viewer asked how to kindly explain to family why vegetables are bad when carnivore works for them. Dr. Anna suggested explaining that vegetables are carbs, and more carbs affect the liver. Eating too many carbs from vegetables or fruits can damage the liver similarly to drinking alcohol in larger proportions. Metabolic associated liver disease comes from carbs and shows the same progression as alcoholic liver disease. This connects the effects of carbs from vegetables, fruits, and processed foods to alcohol's known negative effects on the liver, leading to metabolic dysfunction and increased diabetes risk. Starting with the poison in vegetables might cause people to laugh, so starting with carbs is easier to explain.
Lynn added that the answer depends on whether family members are genuinely curious or asking mockingly. For genuine curiosity, explain that some people are more sensitive than others. Those not eating ultraprocessed foods or sugar may tolerate vegetables, but many on carnivore can't due to health status. Vegetables contain fiber that binds with nutrients, so even if nutrients are present, they're not necessarily in absorbable form for humans. The goal is to provide optimum nutrition in the form the body is designed to absorb best.
Lynn also mentioned faith-based questions about why vegetables can't be eaten if God created them. The response is that humans have manipulated and modified vegetables, and there are sprays used during growing. What's on grocery shelves wasn't necessarily in the Garden of Eden or the way God intended.
Even water has been messed up. Strawberries have the most toxins and poisons put on the plants. When talking to God, the statement was made that "when I get to heaven, I'm gonna eat all the strawberries you have there because they are not going to be poison."
Robert asked how long sugar cravings will last on day six of carnivore. He feels good, has a ton of energy, and has lost 177 pounds in the last year and a half. The response is that cravings will eventually go away if strict carnivore is maintained. No specific timeline can be given. Artificial sweeteners in electrolytes or diet sodas will keep sugar cravings alive. If any sugar is ingested again, cravings will start all over again. Personal experience shows it took three weeks for cravings to subside, and this timeframe has been heard from many others.
Food addiction includes volume eating and weight cycling patterns. Conscious attention is required when approaching the fridge or pantry. Items that trigger cravings should not be kept in the house. Before bringing something to the mouth, stop and ask: "Does this love me back? Does this love my brain? Does this love my body?" Emotional hunger leads to shame, guilt, and regret. Sugar is addictive like heroin and cocaine, with cannabinoid receptors in the brain. The practice of asking whether eating is true hunger or emotional response helps choose differently. Dr. Aean's advice is to "choose what loves you back."
When something comes into vision, immediately look away. Controlling whether you keep looking prevents the brain from starting to justify eating it. The brain cannot be controlled from having things come into the field of vision, but looking away can be controlled. Keeping visual focus allows thoughts to plant a seed in the brain.
The final giveaway was a 30-day membership to healing humanity.life, won by Ingred Hoodley 6857. To claim the prize, go to healing humanity, fill out the form, and Lynn will send the code. Links are provided in the description to connect with Dr. Anna, Barb, Lynn, Ashley, and Adam. The next session is scheduled for next week at 6 pm Central Standard Time.
