DataGrip Overview, Part 11: History and Autosave
In a Nutshell
DataGrip auto-saves every file and preserves all local edits, letting you revert to previous versions of any file or folder even without version control. Recent files (Cmd+E) and recent locations (Cmd+Shift+E) provide fast navigation to work or text viewed minutes or hours ago. A complete query log, SQL execution log, and clipboard history (Shift+Cmd+V) give instant access to every past action for quick reuse.

Every file worked on in DataGrip is saved automatically. Manual saving is not required. After closing all tabs except the current one, tabs can be reopened using the recent files feature accessed with Command and E. This works for both query files and tables that have been worked on.
The recent locations feature is accessed using Command, Shift, and E. This shows snippets of text that have been viewed recently, whether two minutes ago or two hours ago. Quick search works within recent locations, allowing users to write any text and navigate to where that text was used.
Every change written inside a file is saved by DataGrip, whether files are stored on VCS or not. DataGrip remembers all changes locally. These changes can be reviewed and previous versions can be reverted to if desired. The local log feature works on folder contents as well. For example, if two files are deleted, they can be restored by accessing the local registry of the folder.
All queries run are stored in the query log. This can be accessed by clicking a small button in the toolbar. Queries can be found manually or through quick search. Pressing Enter when a query is selected pastes it into the editor.
The SQL log file contains all queries that were run from DataGrip, whether executed by the user or by the program itself. The clipboard log stores the last 100 extracts that were copied. This can be accessed using Shift, Command, and V, allowing any previously copied content to be pasted into the editor.
