Violent crimes included homicide (2,100 arrests), sexual assault (5,400), robbery (2,700). Nearly 40% lacked criminal records and were detained for civil immigration violations. Non-violent issues like DUI (30,000 arrests) and drugs (22,000) outnumbered severe violent crimes. DUI should lead to deportation as it causes death and destruction.
Even if 10 million immigrants are homemakers with no crimes, most people are not comfortable with them staying. Rand Paul suggests allowing them to stay without citizenship. Ending birthright citizenship would solve much of the issue, as would making illegals ineligible for welfare or Medicaid while paying taxes. The U.S. is unique in granting citizenship to babies born to illegals who come specifically for that purpose. China does not do this. No clear solution satisfies both sides.
